I thought I'd make a page to list useful resources I've encountered online! At the moment the planned focus is stuff related to website creation directly, but I might expand it in future to include other information I find worth sharing!
Spriter's resource is a website dedicated to hosting sprite assets from just about every game in the sun - you'll find sprites from MS-DOS, PC, gameboy and pretty much every videogame platform imaginable here! Try searching for a game with a character you particularly like and checking out what's available. The cool thing about Spriter's Resource is that you'll encounter sprites in various stages of a given animation, so you could even stick them together and make a gif of, say, your favourite fighting game character's idle animation! It seems like a real goldmine for website creation, and the website sidebar also links to other resource repositories in the network: Models Resource, Textures Resource and Sounds Resource. Have fun! :D
And HERE is an example of my very first gif made using this method, the idle animation for michiru from eternal fighters 0!!

a webapp for creating sprites, useful if you want something simple to make some pixel art with! I used it for my new button: https://www.piskelapp.com
